Stand out in the metaverse with your very own digital replica.
8th Wall and Ready Player Me are coming together to launch a set of tools that will allow you to build custom, interactive avatars you can use throughout a variety of web-based metaverse experiences.
Thanks to these new tools, developers will be able to design WebAR experiences compatible with Ready Player Me avatars using a Ready Player Me sample project that is now available via 8th Wall’s impressive Project Library that is continuously growing. Developers will be able to use the sample project to create Face Effects that will take advantage of the front-facing camera on most smartphones and computers to transform your face into a custom avatar. The software is even capable of tracking facial expressions.
The technology can also be used to create interesting World Effects that will let you place your avatar in the real world as well as in front of you using the rear-facing camera on iOS and Android smartphones, offering unique photo moments between you and your digital self.
Underneath the hood, 8th Wall’s Engine features something called ‘Metaversal Deployment.’ This allows World Effects to be delivered as an AR experience on smartphones and smart glasses, as a 3D experience on computers, and as a VR experience using a VR headset. Metaversal Deployment also lets developers build a WebAR project once and deploy their creation across various types of devices. This would significantly reduce the development time while greatly increasing user adoption.
You can easily create your own 3D avatar by taking a selfie or using one of the premade options built into the platform. From there you can customize your avatar with a number of apparel and accessories options. This includes any NFT-based assets you may have collected or purchased over time.
After you’ve finished getting your avatar all gussied up you can jump into multiple compatible apps and games, including any 8th Wall-powered experience, and create some awesome metaverse memories.

We have already seen how personal and meaningful a WebAR experience can be using 8th Wall-powered Ready Player Me avatars. For example, to help promote the Hollywood sci-fi reboot of the film Dune, the WebAR agency Aircards partnered with Yahoo Creative Studios and Ringtail Studios to develop a cross-platform avatar experience that allowed fans to create their own Dune-inspired avatar. They also worked together to create a Yahoo shopping experience featuring a line of digital clothing from designer Charli Cohen.
