In the time since the last Devcon announcement, the state of the Ethereum ecosystem has been electric. We’ve realized critical milestones on the Eth2 roadmap, as well as countless breakthroughs and major progress by teams across the ecosystem. We are incredibly excited to celebrate these achievements with all of you at Devcon in Bogota soon.
That said, we need to talk about timing, because we’ve made the difficult decision to hold off on reuniting for a bit longer rather than pushing ahead with our August target (☔️✔). While nothing is guaranteed given the ongoing pandemic, we’re hopeful that a new date announcement is possible soon with the availability of COVID-19 vaccines ramping up now, and updated pandemic-related trends improving. Still, we want to make sure we do this responsibly and that as many people as possible are able to make the trip from all around the world, which seems unlikely by early August. We have, in recent weeks and months, continued to monitor and listen to the concerns raised by the community, and general sentiment around the August date, and it is clear that the best way to ensure that that we can deliver for everyone is with just a little bit more time.
Meanwhile, there’s a lot going on! The road to Devcon will be paved with the many events, virtual and in-person – including EthCC, which is now scheduled to take place in July of 2021 (hosted in Paris by our friends at Ethereum France). We’re excited to support the efforts of all of the amazing and creative teams working to keep our ecosystem thriving. And while we’ve stayed engaged and connected over the last year from afar, we hope to come together again as the situation improves.
As soon as we are able to make date-related announcements, you’ll find right alongside it information on ticketing, speaker applications and all the other details we know you’re eager to learn. Until then, we’ll continue to actively review Devcon Improvement Proposals, so if you’ve got an idea that you think will make Devcon better, send it our way. We’ll continue to work toward putting together an amazing event, which will be here before we know it.

En el tiempo transcurrido desde el último anuncio de Devcon, el estado del ecosistema Ethereum ha sido eléctrico. Hemos logrado hitos fundamentales en la hoja de ruta Eth2, y se han presentado innumerables e importante avances por parte de distintos equipos que forman parte de la comunidad. Estamos realmente emocionados por celebrar estos logros con todos ustedes en Devcon, en Bogotá, muy pronto.
Dicho esto, tenemos que hablar sobre los tiempos y sobre el momento más oportuno para reencontrarnos, ya que hemos tenido que tomar la difícil decisión de posponer nuestro encuentro un poco más, y no continuar con la fecha planteada para agosto. Si bien sabemos que la incertidumbre sigue siendo alta, dada la pandemia en curso, confiamos en que pronto estaremos anunciando una nueva fecha. Contamos con que la disponibilidad y aumento de las vacunas COVID-19, sumado a una gradual mejora de las tendencias relacionadas con esta pandemia, sean favorables para todos; pero sobre todo, queremos asegurarnos de hacer esto de manera responsable y que la mayor cantidad de personas, provenientes de todas partes del mundo, puedan viajar a este encuentro de manera segura (lo que parece poco probable para principios de agosto). En las últimas semanas y meses, hemos continuado monitoreando y escuchando tanto las preocupaciones planteadas por la comunidad, como el sentimiento general en torno a la fecha de agosto, y está claro que la mejor manera de cumplir con las distintas expectativas, es contando con un poco más de tiempo.
Mientras tanto, ¡están sucediendo muchas cosas! El camino hacia Devcon estará acompañado de eventos, virtuales y en persona – incluido EthCC, ahora programado para julio de 2021 y organizado en París por nuestros amigos de Ethereum France -. Estamos entusiasmados de apoyar los esfuerzos de los increíbles y creativos equipos que trabajan para mantener nuestro ecosistema próspero; y así como nos hemos mantenido comprometidos y conectados durante el último año (desde lejos), esperamos reunirnos nuevamente, a medida que la situación mejore.
Tan pronto como podamos realizar un nuevo anuncio con relación a la fecha, publicaremos también información sobre la venta de entradas, las aplicaciones para panelistas y todos los demás detalles, que sabemos están ansiosos por conocer.
Hasta entonces seguimos revisando activamente las “Propuestas de mejora de Devcon / DIP’s”. Así que si tienen una idea, que crean pueda ayudar a mejorar Devcon, no duden en enviarnosla.
